Dr. Renee Oleck is currently the National Director of the Port and Animal Import Center Services unit. The exceptional staff in this unit oversee the export, import, and quarantine of VS regulated animals moving through U.S. air, sea and land border ports. Prior to taking this position, she was the Director of the New York Animal Import Center.
She began as a veterinary medical officer with the USDA in July 2004. She received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin in 2000. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from NC State University. She spent four years in mixed animal practice in Wisconsin before joining USDA FSIS. In 2006, she moved to Massachusetts to be the export VMO in the VS New England Area Office. From September 2007 to January 2015, she was an import export coordinator for the former eastern regional office of APHIS, VS in Raleigh, NC. There she served as a subject matter expert for VS import and export activities at the field level coordinating activities and facilitating information sharing between the VS area offices and the VS National Center for Import and Export.
